Estate home c. 1904 designed in the shingle style by noted architect H. Craig Severance (of the firm of Severance & Schumm) for William Sake Hofstra {merchant}. Hofstra was the president of Nassau Lumber Co. and Price & Co. of Canada which dealt pulpwood. Since they did not have children, the Hofstra family sought that the home be used for the public good.

It is now used as the administrative offices for Hofstra University.
