This is home to the largest colony of Australian Fur Seals in the world.

There were plans to build an underwater viewing platform, with a tunnel crossing from the (now derelict) interpretive centre, but these plans came to nought when the centre closed.

White Pointer sharks predate upon the seals.

A small hut still remaining on the island was used in the early twentieth century to view and study the seals. Modern visitors can take Seal Rocks boat cruises to view the marine mammals up close.
