The present parish church of Saint Mary at Galtrim was built as a Church of Ireland edifice c. 1800, but it stands atop an earlier medieval church, which is attested in the early 14th century. The church is surrounded by an old graveyard, with the earliest inscribed date on a grave stone being 1735.
