 city, county seat

Le Center is a city in sections 28 and 29 of Lexington Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota. The population was 2,499 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Le Sueur County.

Le Center's history reveals quite an identity crisis. It was originally platted in 1876 as Le Sueur Center and was established as the county seat. The post office was established as Union Centre in 1864 on a farm in section 32 and discontinued when the new post office of Le Sueur Centre was created in 1877 one mile north. It was incorporated as a village in 1890. The name was variously spelled Lesueur Center, 1893-1928, and Le Sueur Center, 1928-31. The name was changed in 1930 to Center, and changed again in 1931 to Le Center.

Le Center was served by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad from 1902 until 1980.
