  • Attended this school during the years 1975-1980. It was a secondary school during that time from Grade 6th through 10th. Still remember the view from the upper floor class to the newly installed clock on Ismaili Jamat Khana. Great teachers included Saeed Sir, Headmaster Iqbal, and always famous Hamid and Majid and ever popular Ms Zarina, Shahnaz, Suraya and Nafisa. My personal favorite teacher were Nafisa and Saeed sir. I took lot of inspiration from these teacher. Equally impressed were the math teacher I dont' remember the name. He was of small stature, but of great character, a.k.a. Bhatia. Class of 1980 included; Naeem Kasbati, Ghulam Qadir, Yasin, Rauf Bachu, Abdul Rauf Gadar, Munaf, Qayuum and many many more. I do know very successful doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs who attended this govt school (Peela School). I think I paid less tuition fee during my five years than I currently pay for one of my kid each month. Karim Nagori Fairfield CT, USA.
  • Many complements to AK Nagori, my class mate for 1980 batch of Secondary School Certificate (Matric) science group, for contributing about our school. He has reminded me of that memorable period when we got that invaluable education free of cost from some really great teachers. Among them were English Teacher, Mr Saeed whose fatherly face is impossible for forget. Math Teacher, Abdul Razzak nicknamed, Bathia. Unfortunately, in those days, nicknaming teachers derogatorily was very common. Only if we know what we were getting from those great teachers, we would not have induldged ourselves in that bad nicknaming. I owe my all algebra skill to Razzak sahib and English writing abilities of Mr. Saeed AK Nagori forgot to mention one class mate Amin with last name Khatki who always kept the whole class amused. I remember one day he read Aryans characteristics in history (Pakistan Studies) in these words. "Aryans had tall shoulders and wide heights" (Arayaon ke qadd chorai aur seenai lambai hotai thai). Also nonforgetable is sattar saheb of Physics (nicknamed as Buchki or Puchki - means a person with thumb-sized beard) . Most of these derogatory nicknames were coined by a student Anwer A Sattar who later on turned to be a famous Naat reciter on national level for some time. I remember Karim Nagori always teasing a boy Ilyas of Punjab Origin who used to pronounce "elementary Canal " in biology as "Kammastry Canaaal" and then all class was after him on this funny pronounciation. Ismail Patel was also one of our class mates who was really a great, but unadmired and unacknowledged, Calligrapher and Artist. Finally our hats are off for our great teachers who contributed so much for students for a salaries which can not be termed even meager. Even if we adjust for inflation, those teacher in those days were making around $150 a month with no benefits except one time retirement fund payment which is now about $6000.00
  • A.Rauf and A.karim have reminded the days we spent together at this school.Teachers who have made a diffrence in my life and too whom i ower too much includes : i) Saeed Sahib- a Engish teacher and a nice person and probably the best teacher of the school ( Saeed Sb is no more in tis world; May Allah shower his unlimited blessings on him-Ameen); ii) Miss Shenaz, Urdu Teacher and probably i was among his favourite student at thatas she always paid special attention to me; iii) A.Razzak Sb- Math's teacher, a dedicated and committed teacher; iv) Miss Suriyya , our Science teacher, a caring and graceful lady; v) Miss Nafeesa, A chemistry teacher, an intelligent and caring lady v)A.Sattar Sb,an hardworking physics. I often think that we have a responsibiity to reciprocate to our schools and teachers and specially when we are in a position and we have the realisation. After reading Rauf's comment, I was just wondering what if we the students of this schoola allocate a portion of our income above a threshold to the school which could be expensed for the betterment of school facilities and also be partly be passed on to the past teachers and their family members. The amount so allocated should be treated as paying back to the school and not as a charity; as this will take care of the self respect of the teacher. Allah SWT would definitely reward for the amount so allocated like Allah has committed to reward for the amount spent on ones own family. This sort of fund can be made for every educational instiution as unfortunately the country's compensation system is not so rewarding to the teachers.
