Notes: The Old Livery Stable is significant for its association with the early development of Fountain, Colorado, particularly that of the hotel trade. Vernacular in its architecture, the building represents a type of utilitarian structure designed to serve a mode of transportation now largely obsolete in a society dependent on motorized vehicles. The stable was built in 1893 as part of a small hotel complex. For many years the structure housed the horses of the guests who remained overnight.
