Notes: This house is one of about 70,000 homes originally sold by Sears, Roebuck & Co. as a mail-order product between 1908 and 1940. Buyers would choose a pre-designed floor plan from the catalog, and Sears would deliver pre-fabricated components and building materials to the home site, where the parts would be assembled by the buyer or a contractor. For this particular house, which is plan #132, the original owners decided to substitute ornamental concrete block construction for the wood-frame exterior called for in the plans.
