Daktylios (Athens)

Greece / Attiki / Athens

"Daktylios" in greek, means "ring". It marks the bounds where a restriction is applied to prohibit car drivers from entering into the center, half of the days of a month depending on the last digit on their license plate.
The simple rule is on odd days you can enter with a car with odd last digit on the plate
and on even days you can enter with a car with even last digit on the plate.

Although in the 1980's this measure was successful since the average athenian family owned one car, now in the 21st century they own two or even three cars, so they will just use the "suitable" car for the day they want to enter into the center.
Thus the "daktylios" is practically inactive.

The roads delimiting the ring are:
Alexandras - Zaharof - Mesogeion - Feidippidou - Mihalakopoulou - Spyrou Merkouri - Vryaxidos - Ymittou - Ilia Iliou - A. Frantzi - Syggrou - Hamosternas - Peiraios - Iera Odos - Konstantinoupoleos - Ahilleos - Karaiskaki sq. - Karolou - Marni - Patision - Alexandras.
