Albion was one of the largest sugar estates in the old parish of St. David (today St. Thomas) and around 1880 the largest producer in Jamaica. The land survey in 1794 was 1.492 acres. At emancipation there were 450 slaves at Albion. The map of 1804 showed two water-mills. Albion produced its last crop of sugar in 1928, was taken up by the United Fruit Company and planted in bananas.
