Site of an ancient Roman fort at Camelon, possibly ancient Colanica or Colania, located just north of the Antonine Wall. The area is covered by the modern gold course, railroad, and commercial buildings. The two forts are immediately adjacent to each other and occupy the northwestern and southwestern halves of the outlined area. The northern fort is thought to be Antonine in date. There are several Roman temporary camps to the west and northwest.
