 village, interesting place, hill station

Toranmal is a village in the municipal council of the Nandurbar district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. One can reach through Shahada. It is a hill station located in the Satpura Range. Its Gorakhnath Temple is the site of a Yatra attended by thousands of devotees on Mahashivratri. On that occasion pilgrims walk barefoot for days from surrounding areas in the Nandurbar district but also from Maharashtra, Madhya pradesh and Gujarat.

  • This place is such a beautiful hill station with the local Adivasi Population living in a very poor state. you can experience the magic of Matheran & Mahabaleshwar. it's the Local Leaders who ocuupied/ invested the land & township plots & doing nothing to create the tourism. Nadurbar ZP has to initiate the action & bring it to the State Tourism map. I do Visit once in year. The Bus Service from Shahada Is available & The ride is eqally enjoyable. Food & Hotels are not in good condition. Stay At Nandurbar & Experience the nature closely.
  • This place is more 1000 meters above sea level. A hill station hidden from the masses. This place has mythological history, if proper research is done by the archiological Dept. they might find many astonising facts about this place. There is a herbs research institute where they study various herbs for medicinal value. Many herbs only grow in this area in the valley, they are not found anywhere. Many herbs are used by the locals for ayurvedic treatment.
  • TORANMAAL is the Northenmost Hill Station of Maharashtra. It is far away from hub of any city life & altough there are only a few 'Points" to be seen, this place is a must to be seen. MTDC had its holiday home here , but pl. check whether is still there. The area is inhabited by very poor Tribals, who have to depend for their needs on Weeekly market here. I have seen tribals coming from far away villages, even crossing several hills for the 'Weekly Market'. Being remote area, donot get surprosed if you come across any wild life resident as well!
