Russell is a city in and the county seat of Russell County, Kansas, United States. The population was 4,506 at the 2010 census.

Home of former U.S. Senator and 1996 Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole. The community was named after Russell County, which was named for Avra P. Russell, cavalry captain. It is in the Central Standard time zone. Elevation is 1,824 feet.
