Notes: The Medano Ranch headquarters site is representative of the types of ranch complexes that operated in the San Luis Valley from the second half of the 19th century through the mid 20th century. A significant number of the buildings that once stood on this site are gone, as modernization and mechanization through the decades rendered some of the buildings unnecessary. The ones that still stand show the evolution such complexes underwent as the needs of the operators changed. Today, the headquarters site is unoccupied.
