Gabni ka Daanda

India / Uttaranchal / Rudraprayag /

It is a hanging valley with a span of approximately 3 kilometres, having a tiny creek (small river) flowing through it. The valley is really beautiful and experiences heavy snowfall during winter and heavy rain during summer/monsoon. The surrounding area is rich in flora and fauna. Local boys use the grassy heart of the valley for playing cricket. It is rumoured that two centuries ago, the British were planning to establish Lansdowne in this valley, but something made them change their decision and the town of Lansdowne was built at its current position (where it stands till date). As per the locals, they had even planted fruit orchards and had made fortification like structures of which only scattered ruins and dried up fruit trees remain.
