Past History:
This was the New York area port facility of the Reading Railroad, used primarily for the loading of anthracite coal into oceangoing ships barges for export. Notable feature of the port was the McMyler Coal Dumper, which would tip fully loaded railcars of coal into boats.

Future Plans:
Located in Woodbridge and Carteret, Port Reading Business Park is part of the Portfields district. This 315-acre, master-planned industrial park will have over 3 million square feet of facilities when total buildout is completed. The property is being developed by ProLogis, which owns more than 20 million square feet of distribution and light manufacturing facilities in New Jersey.

Port Reading Business Park is strategically located in the center of the East Coast consumer market, only minutes from Exit 12 of the New Jersey Turnpike and 10 miles from Port Elizabeth/Newark and Newark Liberty International Airport. The park is eligible for Urban Enterprise Zone and brownfield redevelopment tax credits in the towns of Carteret and Woodbridge.

The business park is site plan-approved and zoned for industrial development. Flexible warehouse/distribution space ranges in size from 50,000 to over 800,000 square feet. Port Reading Business Park has an upscale appearance, is professionally landscaped, and located near restaurants and hotels.
