Timisoara Nord Railway Station (Timișoara)

Romania / Timis / Timisoara / Timișoara
 train station, railway terminal

This is the main railway station in Timisoara, also known as "Gara de Nord" - "The Northern Railway Station".

In the year 1857 the railway Szegedin - Timisoara was built; it's purpose was to directly link Timisoara with Budapest and Vienna. That same year also marks the construction of the first building of the train station which was later refurbished between years 1896 and 1898. After being bombed in the World War II, the station was rebuilt to resemble the building we can see today.

During the years 1871-1897 rail links were established across Banat with Arad, Caransebes, Orsova, Sanicolaul Mare, Buzias, Radna (Lipova) and Modos.
