Trail head to Black Mesa

  There is essentially a vehicular road to the top, which I understand the Nature Conservancy has closed to vehicles, requiring visitors to walk (bit contemptuous of people w/ disabilities who can't walk 8 miles in the desert). There is a dirt road just west of the Black Mesa B&B that is open & passable, gets you to within about 1 mile of the summit. From there the hike west up to Black Mesa was fairly easy, but I might suggest boots, as there are small cactus & rattlesnakes eking out a living in the low grass.
