  Prof C.D.Deshpande from Malikwad went to UK and graduated in Geography and returned to become professor of geography at Dharwad University and later became Director of SSC board in Kolhapur and Pune, then advisor to govt of India for Dept of Geography books publications. He passed away recently. His brother was a Colonel in Indian Army. Interesting thing about Malikwad is that everyone is very proud of their native place. The temple of Lord Vithoba and Lord Hanuman are other main temples. Recently other temples have come up.

  i am native of malikwad and i am very proud of my village.i spend my childhood here. my father mr.v.g.deshpande(dadasaheb)is a good agriculturist here.we are having a big farm house.the people of this village are so nice,helpful,caring,good hearted. this village is also known as sainik malikwad beacause most of the people from this village join indian army. after my marriage(recently)i am staying in bangalore but i always miss my village,my people (my father,mother,brother,grandma and all deshpande family),and my friends.

  नमस्कार मित्रानो, आज मी तुम्हाला एक वेगळ्या आणि एक जुन्या पुरातन मंदिराची ओळख करून देणार आहे एक आसे मंदिर ज्याचा एक आगळा वेगळा इतिहास आहे. वेंकटेश मंदिर Malikwad या गावाची शान म्हणून मानल्या जातासलेले एक मंदिर ते म्हणजे वेंकटेश मंदिर जे एका डोंगरावर बसलेले आहे. या मंदिराची स्थापना १८९० ते १९०० या काळात झाली. या मंदिराची स्थापना हा एक वेगळाच प्रकारचा आसल्याचे वृध्द मंडळी सांगतात, malikwad गावाचे खातेदार घराण्याचे (देशपांडे परिवाराचे(सरकार)) हे कुलदैवत आहे, यामुळे त्या काळात एका आजोबाना तिरुपतीला जायची इच्छा होती पण परिस्थिती आणि वयामुळे त्यांना ते घडत नवते, त्यामुळे त्यांनी एक निश्चय करून तिरुपती हून काळा दगड मागीवला आणि त्यापासून त्यांनी देवाची मूर्ती तयार करून घेवून इथे बसवली, इथे बसवली खरी पण त्याचे वैशिष्ट असे काही घडवले कि लोक जे कोणी हि मूर्ती पाहतील ते दोन मिनिटासाठी थक्क झाले पाहिजेत कारण जशी मूर्थी तिरुपती बालाजीची आहे तशी हिते या मंदिरा मध्ये आहे. तशीच नक्षी काम, तशीच सुंदर, तशीच काळ्या दगडात तयार केलेली. सकाळी पूजा झाल्यावर जर मूर्ती पाहाल तर डोळे निघणार नाहीत मूर्तीवरून एवढी छान दिसते हि मूर्ती. आता मागच्या दोन महिन्यापासून थोडेफार मंदिराच्या सुधारणेचे काम हितल्या त्या मंदिराचा मान आसलेल्या देशपांडे परिवाराने चालू केली आहे. या मंदिराच्या नावावर १०० एकर जमीन होती पण अतिक्रमणा मुळे ती आता नाही आहे. हे मंदिर आतिशय सुंदर आणि निसर्गाच्या कुशीत आहे ज्यामुळे त्याचे सौंदर्य उठून दिसते. दसऱ्याच्या दिवशी " सिमोलंघन " मान या मंदिरास आहे. या मंदिराचा समाराधना हा कार्यक्रम फार मोठ्या आनंदाने होतो. हा कार्यक्रम दरवर्षी दिसेम्बेरच्या शेवटच्या आठवड्यात किंवा जानेवारीच्या पहिल्या आठवड्यात (तिथीनुसार) संपन्न होतो. या मंदिराच्या कृपादृष्टीने आणि मोठ्या मंडळीच्या आशीर्वादामुळे Malikwad या गावाची सुधारणा होत आहे आणि हिथिल लोक सुध्धा फार सुखी जीवन जगत आहेत. मी मिथुन देशपांडे आपल्या देशपांडे परिवाराकडून एवाडेच सांगतो कि कधीही आपण या आमच्या भागात आलात तर येथे येवून या मंदिरात दर्शन करून जावे एवढीच विनंती. -- Regards : Mithun S.   It's prod village from where I born very great full to be a part of it ...malikwad is the place where I grown up and I want to die there ...it's the place which gave me memories for the life ...I have very emotional attachment with this village ...it's situated on the bank of doodhganga can be said alternative of that national river ganga who flows 365 days and keep farmers always happy with her water ...still loads of culture and ethics are alive there ...really so proud to be a part of the village where many peoples joined army and sevrd for country and still that craze is on to serve for country .. people here so kindfull that they will help u at anytime and anywhere ...I would like to thank God for giving me such a beautiful and superbbb village ., malikwad is great and malikwadkats are always great ....Jai jawan jai kisan both peoples are here ..I invite all the peoples from the world to visity village ...thank u ..
