A Tongbanga, or Mulbanga, are water driven mills. This one was built for Daei Village in about 1900. This mill has a stone tub for grain, a grinding stone for striking, a waterspout to direct water flow, and a water tank to lift the stone.

When water pours into the tank the grinding stone rises. When the water drains out from the weight of the water, the grinding stone falls and the grain is pounded into flour. These water mills were frequently found in mountainous valleys rich in water.
