The factory started production in August 2008 on a 15 acre site in the Baharcah some 20 mins from Erbil city centre, during the set up negotiations it was agreed that the factory would produce high quality Italian standard products. Also the all staff recruited would from the top management down to the production workers would have a wide experience of the production of ice cream. Distribution now covers the whole of Iraq with customers recognizing that there was now a top quality Italian standard ice cream in the market. The marketing team has now established Ice King as a brand a market leader, through the efforts of the dedicated team out in the field. Hygiene is a priority throughout the production process, with the approval of the Department of Health in Erbil Ice King now has official documents from this government office rating the products with their full approval for quality.
In the design stages the management team mapped out the requirements to meet all international standards for the production halls and support warehousing. There are four warehouses one 4,000m2 and 2,000 for working and production halls, all according to industry standards. The machinery required was identified and a leading brand of Italian was chosen, from a list of other company offers. Two fully automatic production lines to produce stick ice cream and magnums with a production capacity of 6,000 pcs per hour. Another production line producing ice cream cups and ice cream cones again able to produce 6,000 pcs per hour. Four other production lines producing a wide range of other products producing 21,000 pcs per hour between them.

Production & Distribution

The factory operates 24 hours per day, including time for deterging, sterilizing and cleaning, meaning around 22 hours per day the factory is in full production. From a fairly modest start of a few thousand piecs per day, this has now reach 1,600,000, produced by a two shift workforce.
