This monument and the attendant cemetery houses the remains of the great Abakh Khoja family, who at one time wielded great power in this part of the world and helmed a short-lived state here named Kashgaria. One of Abakh Khoja's more famous descendants is the "fragrant concubine," allegedly the favorite concubine of the Emperor Qianlong.
