Kashgar (Chin. Kashiga'er, abbrev. Kashi, also Kaxgar) is an oasis city in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China with a rich and vivid historical and cultural legacy.
The earliest mention of Kashgar is when the Chinese Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE) envoy travelled the Northern Silk Road to explore lands to the west.

In order to boost the economy in Kashgar region, the government classified the area a Special Economic Zone, the sixth one in China, in May 2010.

  • I don't see any thing wrong with the marking
  • Presently the old part of the city is being demolished to extinguish the historical connections. See this german newspaper article: http://www.taz.de/4/reise/asien/china/artikelseite/1/kashgar-kulturerbe-vor-der-zerstoerung/
  • Anybody going to update the railway to the south of the city? It was drawn roughly before the satellite scans have updated so now it's obvious that it's passing far to the west/southwest of the current rough line.
