 buddhist temple  Add category

Cheokpanam (hermitage) was initially built in 673 by monk Wonhyo, and was restored in 1938 by monk Gyeongheo. Cheokpanam was named after the myth describing how Wonhyo saved a thousand Chinese Buddhist monks from the destruction of their temple by throwing a small dining tray.

Located a 30 minute walk from Jangansa (temple), in the forest high on Bulgwangsan (mountain), the hermitage offers a splendid view of the mountains and valleys below.
