Bhamo city is a prominent city of Kachin State. It is located close to the border with China, a dynamic large country making Bhamo the strategic city of doing business with China. As of 1935 the town was situated at the highest navigable point of the river, and was the terminus of caravan routes from India and Burma, by which jade in particular, was brought into China. A border city that can transport goods and services for both Myanmar and China.
