Forest Gump Point

The movie location where Forest Gump decided to stop running - someone has put up a sign at the spot.
This location is about 160m northeast of the tourist shed most people stop at; but if you look at the movie,

the tourist shed is clearly visible down the road.
Interestingly, the close up of Forest, where he says "I'm pretty tired" was filmed another 730m up the road, at this location:

Perhaps the two scenes were filmed on different days? In the shot looking southwest, the sky is overcast, and the runners have no distinct shadow. In the shot looking northeast (where Forest says "I'm pretty tired"), the sky is clear, with Forest casting a distinct shadow on the ground.
Why they shot the two scenes at different locations I'm not sure . . .
