Sears sold mail-order catalog home kits from 1908-40, and of over 100,000 houses, only 3 "Ashmore" houses were ever built (before Sears added names, it was called the C250 model). The Arts and Crafts bungalow was attractive and had 6 bedrooms, and described as the "Aristocrat of Bungalows." This Ashmore was built in 1917, and in 2000 it was restored by Joseph G. Metzler, AIA, of Sala Architects, bringing in more modern features (modernizing kitchen, combining several bedrooms to make a master suite). Featured in the Fall 2005 issue of American Bungalow and the May 2004 issue of Midwest Home & Garden.
