The department has started a post graduate programme in Thermal Power Engineering during the year 2003-04.

The department has well equipped laboratories and workshops to impart effective training to the students. Students get practical training in various manufacturing processes like foundry, welding, sheet metal forming, turning, milling, shaping and also in subjects like material testing, metrology, measurement and stress analysis. Besides these, they also get practical training in the latest areas of CAD/CAM and Robotics.

The IC Engines and Heat Transfer Laboratories have been modernized by adding equipments like computerized IC engine test rig and recirculating type air conditioning test rig under MODROBS scheme sponsored by AICTE.
