These combined properties are the extended estate of Kevin Kirvida, president of family-owned Rosenbauer Minnesota, a fire engine manufacturer with a factory in nearby Wyoming, Minnesota. Kirvida's grandfather, blacksmith Elmer Abrahamson, built a fire engine in the 1930s for a nearby town which led to wider interest and the beginning of General Safety Equipment. A merger with Austrian company Rosenbauer International in 1995 caused a major international boom for the company.

After first working at pump and spray equipment manufacturer Graco in Chicago, Kirvida joined his family business in 1978 and took over as the 3rd generation head of the company from his parents 10 years later.
