WVIZ first went on the air in 1965 as founded by Betty Cope. Originally an affiliate of National Educational Television, it became the Cleveland PBS affiliate in 1970 but aired programming centered at the school first and foremost, over prime time programming. The station dropped most instructional TV in 1993 shifting day times to the PBS Kids block and was officially renamed WVIZ/PBS in 1999. Today the channel carries PBS on channel 25.1, The Ohio Channel on 25.2, PBS World on 25.3, PBS Create on 25.4, PBS Kids on 25.5, WKSU Simulcast on 25.7, WCLV Simulcast on 25.8, and the Cleveland Sight Center Radio on 25.9

WVIZ merged with WCPN in 2001 to form Ideastream Broadcasting who today reside in this building.
