Modak Sagar Dam

The Dam was Built by British Military Engineer lowsone in 1701 who died during its tunnel construction. was renovated in 1954 during the nehru tenure by Bmc engineer Narayan Modak and hence named after him. before him the dam was renovated trice.

I stayed here at the guest house. During Mapping of middle vaitarna Dam. for enviroment clearence i worked with Dr lattu Dr chapekar and Bmc engineer chaudhary and kusurkar who incidently stay at Dombivli where i stay.

  • Incorrect description. This should be called Vaitarna DAM. The visibly straight structure marks the DAM, the LAKE is behind the dam. The Lake is correctly described in a bigger box.

  • I do not know which dam it is being reported. The Vaitarna dam was built by Indian engineers. from 1948 to 1955 under Special Engineer Mr. Modak and Construction Engineer Mr. P.P Dani. Later on may be the name was changed to Modak Sagar Dam. If anyone wants to discuss this I am available at <guljan22@gmail.com>

  • shahapur is most advantages for mumbai. but BMC don't take care of it. we local people also suffer with problem of water & the condition of road is very bad here.we need developement here.
