On September 10, 2016, No. 17 Tennessee played a football game here against Virginia Tech. They won 45-24. This was the second football game played at Bristol, and the most attended American Football game ever at 156,990. The game was officially known as the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol. May happen again in future seasons.
