Two 12" disappearing carriage guns were mounted here from 1899 to 1918.

Battery Stricker was named on February 11, 1902 in honor of Brigadier General John Stricker, who commanded the 3rd Brigade, Maryland Militia, in the defense of Baltimore, Maryland September 13 and 14, 1814.
