This building was most likely built for Peter Lieber, the proprietor of P. Lieber & Co., a brewery. He was a native of Düsseldorf, Germany and served as U.S. Consul there from 1893 until 1908. The building was constructed in Renaissance Revival style architecture, circa 1887.
