Bavarian State Library (German: Bayerische Staatsbibliothek) is the national library of Bavaria. It is the second-largest German library and the second-largest library for periodicals in Europe.

The library was founded 1558 by Duke Albrecht V. The main building in the Ludwigstraße was constructed 1832-43. During the Second World War, the building was almost completely destroyed by air bombardments. 500,000 books were lost.
