Surface tests of nuclear devices were conducted at this location. Between 13 November and 24 December 1962 six safety experiments conducted here. These probably mirrored US and UK tests to determine one-point-safety of warheads. Nuclear yields of these Soviet tests were registered as being equivalent to between 1 & 38 tons of TNT.
