  • Butte is the birthplace of Evel Knievel.
  • On 23rd December, a documentary aired produced by the BBC in the summer presented by top gear star richard hammond traveled to butte to speak to Evel Knievel. Evel was very ill and left during the interviews, most of the time to avoid awkward subject matter
  • this is also the site of the largest Topic Waste SuperFund cleanup in the world. The Berkely Pit. So far, 2 flocks of geese have landed on the water that is in this pit & all died shortly afterwards. they just don't know what to do with all the water/mineral mixture that seaps up from the ground, now that they don't pump it out. They even have a body of water called "Acid Lake". What does that tell you>?
