Church Saint-Gildas (Gâvres)

France / Bretagne / Gavres / Gâvres

This church in Latin cross, in the facing west choir, replaced the romanic chapel become too small for the population. The architect lorientais Diberder had the happy idea to be inspired by the romanic architecture for the structure and the decoration of the new sanctuary. The inside is the most successful element of the composition: the cleared surfaces emphasize the linear drawing and the proportions of pillars, bows and granite banners, corresponding well to sea fishermen's church. The building is rich in two models of ex-voto representing three trois-curve raising both a sculptured figurehead.
