This place was the location of British North Borneo port/pier at Ambong Bay - burned by Mat Salleh somewhere in 1900 - there was a road/path along the coast used by the British officers like the sepoi on horse to Fort Hills/Kota Belud. Some of the wooden piles (iron wood belian) are still existing.
