This plant was built as Farmers' Co-operative Packing Co. and purchased by Oscar Mayer & Company in 1919, one of the first Oscar Mayer plants. Slaughtering operations were done here until the late 1970s (which were phased out completely under General Foods). In 2015, Kraft Heinz, parent company of Oscar Mayer, announced it would close the plant with final operations being done in 2017. In 2018, Total Administrative Services Corp. leased a small portion of the complex. The Oscar Mayer corporate offices (later a division) were also located here since 1957, and with the closure moved to Chicago (where it was prior to 1957).
