1584: first mention, the great fire of May 9, 1548 destroying the Market and City Hall.
1562-1568: Rebuilding the town hall in the middle of the marketplace, building a new complex with prison, cloth hall en caretaker's house.
1694: The town hall falls in ashes again due to a fire.
1706: The building is demolished during a French war.
On August 10, 1782 the Austrian Emperor Joseph II grants permission to build the new city hall.
1808: Restoration of the building under the Napoleonic regime.
1896: Restoration, replacement of the sculpture. The meeting hall and the council chamber will be thoroughly renovated.
1921-1922: Adaptations
1969-1974: Restoration
1980-1981: Renewal of the roofs
