Berkley Square is the earliest subdivision which was built in Nevada by and for the African American inhabitants of Las Vegas. Designed in 1949 by Paul Revere Williams, named for Thomas L. Berkley, an attorney from Oakland, California. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
