It was built of reinforced concrete between 1938 and 1940 by the company Thorrand and Co. Nice. The bridge was designed by the engineering Pelnard-Consière and Caquot.
It consists of a single arch of 107 meters and overlooks a height of 182 meters, the river gorge Artuby which flows into the Verdon at a place called Mescla. This is the highest bridge in Europe allowing the practice of bungee jumping.
