The Hardin Cemetery was partially washed away (as evidenced by the pond of water in the middle) by the Flood of 1993 of the Missouri River. Many caskets were found miles away and most were reburied in the northwest part of the cemetery. Those whose remains were unknown were buried in the north part of the cemetery (north of the roads) with "UNKNOWN" name plates. A memorial for the unknowns was also built.
