The Centre is to study the modern literatures written in Chinese, English Malay and other languages by Chinese of all nationals. The research topics emphasize the study of literatures and other cultural expressions across linguistic and cultural boundaries. The writers of the literature are Chinese by descent only, they are citizens of different countries. The Centre is distinct in its conviction that literary research must be international in character.
