place with historical importance, dam, interesting place
Built by the Army Corps. Of Engineers some time ago. Was deemed unsafe by whom as well in the late 80's or 90's, closing off the road crossing over it to vehicles. The road was the most popular cut-off shortcut to the Havillah Highway to locals. Beware of MapQuest, Google Earth, Garmin, and others, if you are searching directions to somewhere on the southern portion of Mt. Hull (more specifically Swanson Mill Rd. & Summit Lake Rd.), for the directions most such services will give you (if traveling from the west or south of) tell you to turn on Fancher Dam Rd. from the Havillah Highway. These directions are wrong. This road has been closed for nearly 30 years. It is fenced and barricaded a short distance after its beginning, with a newer continuation of the road leading to the left, which splits into a number of private driveways, and absolutely does not go through anymore (except to foot traffic).
