Pre-production and stripping, then mining in the Sabodala pit commenced in Januray 2008, and is scheduled to be depleted in 2018. Mining is carried out by the owner using four PC3000, and one PC2000 shovels, as well as two WA900 wheel loaders. The haul fleet includes thirty 91t Komatsu KD785-7 trucks, and other equipment includes excavators, graders, and dozers. Drilling is done by fix Sandvik Panterra DP1500 and three Bucyrus/Cat Reedrill SKF-12 dril rigs. Mine planning was carried out using MineSche software.
