Harwood Island is a small heavily wooded island that lies off the coast of Powell River, BC. It is reserve land and is part of the traditional territory of the Sliammon First Nation. And said to be the largest undeveloped island in the Salish Sea.

At the turn of the 20th Century, it was logged. The second growth trees have since grown to substantial size. The island is uninhabited and is a traditional and sacred place for the Sliammon First Nation.

It is a popular weekend destination during the summer season for tourists and residents of Powell River.

The island has long been called "Ah gyk'sen" or "Ahgykson" by the Tla'amin people who have lived in this territory for at least 8,000 years. In the early 1790s, the English explorer Capt. George Vancouver (1757–1798) named it "Harwood Island" in his records. The traditional Tla'amin name was eventually reinstated officially on April 5th, 2016.
