The station was opened as the first phase of construction of Butovskaya lmetro line.

Station design: island platform station located on an elevated viaduct.

Station architect: L.Borzenkov

The station is named after Russian diplomat Chancellor Alexander Gortchakove (1798-1883).
The row of columns along the platform supports a canopy which protects the station from atmospheric precipitation. There are sound barriers on either side of the platform. The escalators at the east end of the station hall join the platform with the vestibule. The other end of the station features an elevator for the handicapped.

Exit to: Gorchakova, Chernevskaya streets.
