Areas of significance: Architecture
Area: 0.37 acres
Date added to NRHP: 3/28/1996
Current occupant: offices and meeting space for the Oracle Center for Environmental Education
Notes: This "house" was owned by the Kannally family from its construction until 1975, but contains no bedrooms. In addition to being the headquarters for the prominent Kannally Ranch, it was used as a social gathering and entertaining space as well. The Kannally family lived in older 1903 and 1910 structures just north of the ranch house which were built upon the family's arrival in this area. Plans for a bedroom addition to the larger and grander house were drawn up by the original architect at one point but were never executed. At one time, the Kannally family's combined ranch holdings totaled almost 50,000 acres. Upon the death of the last remaining Kannally family member in 1976, the much smaller plot of land that remained after many sell-offs was willed to the Defenders of Wildlife, who in turn donated the property to the Arizona State Parks Board in 1985. Today, the Kannally Ranch House is located within Oracle State Park.
