Built in 1986 for the department of geological sciences and designed in a 'high tech' style, the exposed structural and coloured mechanical systems create a striking interior which is visible from the outside. Inside is a small museum and display; the seismographic devices record and display earthquake data from around the world. The building honours Robert Charles Wallace, the first professor of geology and mineralogy.
